Winter is the time of year to break out the puffy, warm, beastly jackets that visually increase your body fat percentage by ten fold. What drives me nuts about these so called comfy jackets is they can be ridiculously stiff and mobility prohibitive. I’m about to disclose my 2017 secret outerwear weapon.
The Audrina Bomber Jacket from Nobis is not only ideal for a day in the mountains, but also a night on the town. Stuffed with a premium Canadian origin White duck down for maximal warmth and extreme comfort. I kid you not, wearing the Audrina jacket feels like I’m snuggling under a 600 fill down comforter. Although very thick and warm, the jacket is very agile and proves to be a very high performance, versatile jacket.
The Audrina Bomber Jacket is fully windproof and 10,000mm waterproof. The jacket is coated with a Durable Water Repellent, additionally outer layer crosshatch fabric is laminated and seam sealed with a Sympatex membrane. The jacket is made with a stretchy material giving it a sweatshirt like feel and allowing for optimal range of motion. Pit-zip vents give you the ability to manage core temperature. A convenient wind flap covers the front zipper using magnetic closures- this feature makes blocking the wind the least of your concerns on a chilly day.
For those of your fur loving junkies, the Audrina has one of the most versatile hoods I’ve seen. The removable down hood can fly solo, with the jacket or add the removable Coyote fur for an entirely different look. The Coyote fur can be moulded to the shape you like with a convenient in-hood wire framing. A large, high rising collar eliminates the need for a balaclava when using the Audrina jacket on the mountain. To wrap things up, I’m very impressed with Nobis’ ability in the Audrina jacket to provide both a functionally sound winter jacket that dominates the cold weather, yet maintains an upscale, sleek look for a night on the town.
Pharrell Williams has become even more popular ever seen he formed the funk, hip hop and rock band N*E*R*D with Chad Hugo. More than a decade has passed since Pharrell became actively involved in the fashion scene and he has managed to somewhat achieve recognition as a fashion icon. Back in 2005, Pharrell and his partners from Billionaire Boys Club Miami re-purchased full stake in the clothing label, Billionaire Boys Club & Ice Cream. As of lately he is even being referred to as the “the man with the Midas touch” and this man has teamd up adidas once again for a collaboration.
The latest time Pharrell Williams collaborated with the Three Stripes, it was for his adidas Originals collection that consisted of 50 different tonal colorways of the iconic Superstar model. The collection was introduced in an issue of L’Officiel Hommes Italia via a spread designed by Maurizio Cattelan, the Italian artist from Toilet Paper Magazine. When arranged in the right order, the sneakers seem to appear like a rainbow, perhaps this is why the collection was dubbed the “Supercolor” Superstar Collection. However, his latest collaboration with adidas involves their latest NMD silhouette and is multi-colored or vibrant.
The adidas NMD pair that has been dubbed “Human Race” was last spotted back in January when Pharrell posted a photo on his Instagram of himself laced up in the sneaker. It almost does not even look anything like the recent NMD releases. The Primeknit uppers of this collaborative iteration appear to be dressed up entirely in a yellow hue. Black accents can also be spotted on it, the “Human” that appears on one shoe and the “Race” that is visible on the other, both in large font. The sneaker is also equipped with clean white outsoles.
So far, both adidas and Pharrell have remained silent regarding when this collaboration will be arriving at retailers. However, one thing is for certain that sneakerheads will certainly be getting an opportunity to cop a pair of the Pharrell x adidas NMD “Human Race.”
Like I mentioned in my previous post, I am lucky enough to work at cadysport and be able to test products (especially coats). I can honestly tell you that no one has to twist my arm when the opportunity presents itself!
This time, I went with what I love most in terms of personal style: black, urban, clean lines and quality; so naturally I decided to go with Nobis and Mackage, two Canadian brands. As for the jackets, I chose the Jillian Crosshatch by Nobis and the Eleanor by Mackage.
1- Jillian Crosshatch by Nobis
In truth, I usually go for straight-cut and oversized coats, but I find some cinched waist jackets to be quite elegant. Almost all the Nobis women jackets are cinched, but… (and it might just be me) I found the belt on the Jillian to be more decorative than practical as it did not really tighten the waist that much. The Jillian provides a really big hood and some pit zips (for ventilation), which is a great added feature. Naturally, you will recognize aNobis jacket by its signature fabric, snap closures and crest on the upper arm.
2- Eleanor by Mackage
I like the Nobis, but I admit having a major crush on the Mackage jacket and its leather-trimmed details. When trying the Eleanor, I felt instantly comfortable and ready for Quebec’s cold winter. It features two frontal zippers to really keep the cold out and a water repellent wool exterior. This surprised me as I did not expect wool to be water resistant.I love the oversized hood and high collar. I also really appreciate that you can close the pockets with a zipper, which is super practical if you ask me. In any case, this is a perfect winter jacket.
To sum it all up, these two opponents are alike in many ways. They also have a similar style and price point. So without further ado, I have the pleasure to announce the grand winner; or in any case, the one I find the most elegant, polished looking, simple and warm: the Eleanor by Mackage. But of course, this is just my personal opinion!
